Puppy and Kitten Care

Your First Veterinary Visit at Our Vet Clinic

When bringing your new puppy or kitten to a local vet near you, here's what you can expect during your initial visit:

●             A comprehensive physical examination and assessment of their overall health

●             Vaccination schedule discussions

●             Parasite prevention medication for worms, fleas, and ticks may be administered or recommended.

●             Diet and nutritional needs are evaluated

●             Behavioral concerns and/or training tips can be discussed during your first visit to your preferred clinic.

Vaccination Schedule

For puppies, the recommended vaccination schedule includes:

●             6–8 weeks: Adenovirus, parvovirus, and distemper vaccines are recommended

●             10–12 weeks: Boosters and the second round of vaccines is recommended

●             14–16 weeks: Core vaccinations, including rabies, are administered to dogs

For kittens, vaccination schedules include:

●             6–8 weeks: Feline distemper (panleukopenia), calicivirus, and rhinotracheitis vaccines are ideal

●             10–12 weeks: Rabies and follow-up vaccinations occur

●             14–16 weeks: Final round of core feline vaccines is administered

●             Parasite Prevention: Deworming along with flea/tick preventatives can help keep parasitic infections at bay in both dogs and cats (at any age).
