Gavin W. Hooks, DVM is a native of the St. Louis area, and was raised on a farm just west of St. Louis County. He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia and finished his undergraduate work with a B. S. in Animal Science. After graduating, he worked in medical sales for 6 years, after which he went back to the University of Missouri and acquired his Doctorate from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hooks specializes in small animal medicine and surgery. Diagnostic Medicine is his area of special interest. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association. His favorite hobbies are photography, hiking and writing. He is also a Bible study leader and teacher at his church. His family includes 3 children, 2 dogs and 1 cat.

Kelly is our office manager and has been helping our clients and their pets for more than 20 years. She is a graduate of the Midwest Institute Veterinary Assistant program; her practical knowledge and experience is an invaluable asset to our clinic. Kelly enjoys gardening, traveling and fishing with her family in her spare time.

Alex began working for Big Bend Veterinary Clinic in 2009 and fulfills the roles of secretary and veterinary assistant . Alex is also the proud owner of one dog, a Coton de Tulear named Zico. Outside of the work environment she is a college student majoring in Fine Arts and often includes her job into her artwork.

Amber grew up on a small cattle farm with her grandparents outside of Jefferson City Missouri. After high school she attended Fontbonne University where she majored in Pre-law. It wasn’t until a few years later that she realized her true calling was in Veterinary medicine. She did her externship here at Big Bend Veterinary Clinic and graduated with honors with her degree in Veterinary Technology. Amber started working at the clinic in 2014 and has no plans of leaving anytime soon. She currently lives in South City with her fiancé Josh and their 2 cats and 2 dogs. If it were up to Amber she would have a small zoo. In her spare time she enjoys fostering kittens, cooking, and watching trashy reality television shows on Bravo.
